Safety First is Meant to be Taken Quite Literally

You're taught these things as a child – look both ways when crossing the street, don't talk to strangers, be afraid of everything if possible. The last thing is what's most important as it needs to be applied elev enfold when you approach adulthood...it's the only way to live.

Life is such a grueling activity and the world a cruel place, so what good is it to take any risks? All you do is put yourself at a bigger disadvantage and it's probably not worth it. As someone once told me, “You're not going to be the next Steve Jobs so don't waste your time.”

  • You need to work extra hard to achieve a risky goal when being lazy feels better.
  • You're seen as too ambitious by mobsters and politicians (same difference).
  • There's a chance it fails which makes everyone laugh at you for the rest of your life.
  • The sacrifices you need to make for it to succeed probably aren't worth it.
  • Only crazy people take risks...are you a crazy person?

Trying to do something inspirational should be avoided at all costs. Let someone else put themselves out there while you live a safe, normal life. However, this lifestyle isn't enough – there's so much more you can do to avoid any kind of dangerous situation.

  • Build a panic room with a weapons cache, food supplies, clothing and a shower area.
  • Don't leave your house as the outside world is such a risky place to enter.
  • Pay attention to the TV news more than usual as a warning to not be the next victim.
  • Belittle anyone who takes a risk so they feel like failures while you safely succeed.
  • Start and end your day by reminding yourself how great ordinary life is.

Why should you stick your neck out for something that's never going to happen. You need willpower, desire and vision to do anything innovative. Let's face the facts – you're not going to change the world, so don't try. You're not even a comma in the pages of history.

I'm taking a risk by writing this, as I expect people to actually read it.
